ArmInfo. A meeting between RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian was held in Tehran.
As noted in the press release of the RA government, during the meeting, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran noted that Iran appreciates the continuous development of relations with friendly Armenia in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres.
Nikol Pashinyan thanked Masoud Pezeshkian for the warm hospitality and once again congratulated him on his election as President of Iran. The Prime Minister stressed that multilateral cooperation with Iran, which is based on mutual respect and understanding, is of great importance for Armenia.
Masoud Pezeshkian, confirming the previously reached high-level agreements, noted that the centuries-old friendship of the peoples of the two countries, close historical and cultural ties are the basis for the further development of bilateral cooperation. "We are ready to continue our dialogue through joint efforts and further enrich the agenda of bilateral cooperation," the Iranian President said.
"The fact that I am here today testifies to our commitment to deepening relations between Armenia and Iran at the highest level, strengthening cooperation," Pashinyan noted in turn.
He presented the RA government's project "Crossroads of the World" and its principles aimed at unblocking interregional communication channels.
The newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran stressed the importance of consistent efforts to establish peace and stability in the region. Masoud Pezeshkian noted that maintaining peace in the region is of key importance for Iran, adding that the Iranian side considers it necessary to resolve all issues through dialogue. Nikol Pashinyan stressed the importance of the Iranian side's participation in the construction of the North-South highway, in particular the Agarak-Kajaran section. Steps to modernize the checkpoint on the Armenia-Iran border were also noted.
The leaders of Armenia and Iran discussed a wide range of issues related to strengthening trade and economic ties, and also touched upon issues related to the implementation of new joint programs in the areas of healthcare, advanced technologies, education, science and culture.
Masoud Pezeshkian noted that he had previously been on a private visit to Armenia and had warm impressions of the country and its people. The interlocutors emphasized the importance of high-level bilateral mutual visits.
