ArmInfo. The average international migrant in Russia is a married man of working age originally from Tajikistan, according to Rosstat data.
As RBC writes with reference to the Rosstat bulletin "Number and Migration of the Population of the Russian Federation", in 2023 the number of migrants who came to Russia from abroad amounted to 560.4 thousand people - this is 23% lower than a year earlier.
It is noted that this is the minimum value since 2013, when 482 thousand international migrants entered the country. Most often in 2023, young men from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan arrived in Russia. More than half (55%) of international migrants registered by Rosstat in 2023 are men, 45% are women. The vast majority of them (76%) are of working age, by which the statistical service understands the range from 16 years to reaching retirement age (in 2023 it was 58 years for women and 63 years for men). The most common age cohort for both sexes is the 20-24 year range. Elderly people account for 11% of international migrants (including, for example, 11 people over a hundred years old), children - 13%.
The most significant part of visitors (31%) are from Tajikistan, in second place (10%) are visitors from Kyrgyzstan. Ukraine, Armenia and Kazakhstan each account for 9% of the total number of migrants, Uzbekistan - 4%. A quarter of them had lived in the country of departure since birth, about a third had spent ten years or more there, and 17% had spent only one year there. About 40% of international migrants are Russian citizens, according to Rosstat data.
