Armenia s government to allocate AMD 15.7mln to joint exhibition with  British Museum

ArmInfo.The Armenian government will allocate 15.7 million drams to organize a joint exhibition with the British Museum this autumn. The decision on this was made at a cabinet meeting on July 18.

As RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna  Andreasyan noted in her speech, the upcoming event, the opening of  which is expected to take place on September 21, will be held jointly  with the History Museum of Armenia. It will be important from the  point of view of international cooperation of the country's museums  with their foreign partners.

The minister added that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the  founding of the History Museum of Armenia and the 160th anniversary  of the birth of the founder and director of the museum, the famous  ethnographer Ervand Lalayan. The History Museum is perhaps one of the  most active cultural organizations in the country engaged in  international exhibition activities. It cooperates with such  prestigious museum structures as the New York Metropolitan, the  Russian Hermitage, the Paris Louvre, the British Museum, the National  Museum of the Czech Republic, etc. Traditionally, cultural values  from the museum's collection are exhibited in various prestigious  museums around the world in the format of joint exhibitions These  exhibitions generate great interest in the rich historical and  cultural heritage of Armenia and increase awareness of the country

It will be necessary to conduct an advertising campaign using the  funds allocated by the RA government using appropriate marketing  tools. Advertising posters for the exhibition will be placed in  Yerevan, and popularization of the exhibition using digital  technologies will be carried out throughout the republic. The  adoption of the draft decision will contribute to the development of  culture, education, science and tourism.  It is expected that during  the six months of the exhibition, at least 300 thousand people will  visit the museum, and as a result of advertising the upcoming event,  from 800 thousand to 1 million people will be informed about its  holding.

As part of the exhibition, a bronze bust of the goddess Anahit,  stored in the British Museum, will be exhibited at the Museum of the  History of Armenia in Yerevan. The surviving elements of the bronze  statue of the goddess Anahit - the head and hands - will become  exhibits of the large-scale exhibition "The Mother of God: from  Anahit to Mariam", which will open at the Museum of History of  Armenia on September 21, 2024. The organizers are the Ministry of  Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia,  the Embassy of Armenia in the UK and the British Embassy in Armenia.  The exhibition will feature the collection of the History Museum of  Armenia relating to the Mother of God, from ancient times to  Christianity to the present day.
