ArmInfo.On July 10, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation led by the head of the US Agency for International Cooperation (USAID) Samantha Power.
According to the press service of the RA government, welcoming Power's visit to Yerevan, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of cooperation in various fields within the framework of the Armenia- US strategic dialogue. Pashinyan highly appreciated the programs implemented by USAID in Armenia aimed at developing democratic institutions. The Prime Minister noted that the RA government will resolutely continue consistent steps towards reforms.
Samantha Power noted that the US administration values close cooperation with Armenia and is ready to consistently support the plans of the RA government towards strengthening democracy, development, and increasing the stability of Armenia.
The interlocutors touched upon the programs implemented by USAID in the country and exchanged ideas about the prospects for new joint programs. The joint work carried out towards the development of the reform program of the Armenian government and the development of institutional capabilities, including strategic communications, further expansion and promotion of interaction was noted. It was noted that USAID will provide new funding in the amount of $5 million to support cooperation between Amazon Web Service and the Government of Armenia to implement cloud infrastructure and build its capacity in Armenia.
During the meeting, the humanitarian problems of people forcibly resettled from Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the steps taken by the RA government to solve them, including within the framework of the housing program, were touched upon. In this context, Pashinyan emphasized the importance of further support of the international community and the implementation of the agreements reached at the RA-EU-US high- level meeting held on April 5 in Brussels.
The interlocutors also touched upon issues related to the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process, as well as the RA government's "Crossroads of Peace" project.
