ArmInfo. The employment rate of Artsakh residents decreased in Armenia to 22.9% from 84.7% in Artsakh. Of these, 49.7% worked in their homeland in government agencies. This is evidenced by the results of a social study presented on July 9 by the head of the NGO Leading Public Research Group (APR Group) Liana Balyan during discussions of the level of employment and labor rights of persons forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
During the discussion, it was noted that one of the key obstacles to employment in Armenia for Artsakh refugees is lower wages compared to similar positions in Artsakh.
In turn, the head of the Vanadzor office of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly, Artur Sakunts, noted that the main goal of the study is to provide the government implementing various social assistance programs with recommendations based on reliable data on the labor resources available for the employment of internally displaced persons. As he noted, this is the second such study: the first was conducted at the beginning of the program.
Sakunts also emphasized that this will make the implementation of programs more objective and useful. He said that a proposal had been submitted to the European Union to conduct a separate study as part of the program on the labor rights of forcibly displaced persons.
As a result of Azerbaijan's aggression against the Armenian population of Artsakh, more than 110 thousand people were forced to flee to Armenia.
