ArmInfo. It is an honor for us to be in Armenia, which is an important partner for us in the region. Chairman of the US Helsinki Commission Joe Wilson stated during a visit to Armenia as part of a delegation of US congressmen headed by Senator Roger Wicker.
He noted that during the visit the delegation saw the changing landscape of the South Caucasus region, challenges, Armenia's steps in an attempt to get closer to the West, the desire to pursue an independent foreign policy, and Russia's opposition to restoring the USSR. "And by deepening cooperation in the security field, we will be able to ensure Armenia's resilience in resisting external influence. This will be beneficial not only for the Armenian people, but also for regional and global security," the head of the Commission emphasized. At the same time, he called on Azerbaijan to complete the peace process as soon as possible, as well as Turkiye to also take steps to regulate Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. "We are ready to assist Armenia in the humanitarian and economic sectors. We are ready to help in the formation of a democratic and prosperous society in a stable and secure region. And we are also working together with Georgia on these issues," Wilson summarized.
