ArmInfo. On June 28, the civil initiative "Hayakve" submitted a report of the crime to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia.
"This message relates to the events of June 12, in particular, to the numerous violations of the law committed by the police. More than 2 weeks have passed since those tragic events, criminal cases have been opened, many victims have written statements about the crime," Avetik Chalabyan, co-founder of the Hayakve initiative, told reporters outside the Prosecutor General's Office building.
According to him, the main goal of "Ayakwe's" actions is that on June 12, from their point of view, there were not isolated cases of the use of special means or violence against demonstrators, but there was a deliberate provocation on the part of the police leadership in order to disrupt a peaceful meeting and turn it into riots and suppress it.
There is several evidence of this, as the public figure pointed out. Initially, police troops were present in the vicinity of the peaceful protest. And according to the law, they shouldn't have been there. They can only be involved in the event of mass unrest and then if other law enforcement agencies are unable to resolve the issue, he noted. Secondly, during the meeting, provocations began from the police. "The police threw various objects, bottles to provoke," Chalabyan noted. Thirdly, different police units separated groups of demonstrators and beat them severely.
And most importantly, the use of special forces, despite the fact that there was no threat from the demonstrators.
Based on this, "Hayakve" demands that the Prosecutor General's Office initiate a criminal case under Articles 236, 441 and 450 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
On the evening of June 12, near the building of the Armenian Parliament, clashes occurred between participants of the Tavush for the Motherland movement and RA police officers, as a result of which stun grenades were used. Among the victims are 101 people, including 18 police officers. The RA Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on this fact under the article on organizing mass riots.
