ArmInfo. An Armenian-Azerbaijani peace agreement is supposed to end war and the horrible conflict that has existed since the 1990s, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien stated at the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee.
"We are very clear with President Aliyev that this is a time to make peace," O'Brien said.
And it is a matter of not just Azerbaijan, which is hoping to be respected as a global leader when it hosts COP29, but also for the entire region and Central Asia, the countries, which currently rely on export routes through China or Russia, would benefit from alternative pathways through Azerbaijan. One such route extends through Georgia to the Black Sea, while another potential route could traverse Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey, O'Brien said.
