ArmInfo.The application dates for the new public transport fare payment system in Yerevan will be postponed. The mayor of the capital, Tigran Avinyan, announced this on June 25 at a meeting of the City Council of Elders.
According to him, the use of the new payment system will begin after a new batch of buses and trolleybuses arrives in the city. In total, we are talking about 171 buses and 15 trolleybuses, after the introduction of which on city routes it will be possible to talk about the beginning of the use of a new fare payment system. The mayor assured that all the gaps that existed in the system would be neutralized.
Previously, Yerevan authorities announced the addition of 171 new 8.5-meter-long buses and 15 trolleybuses to the transport fleet. The new equipment is designed to replace outdated rolling stock and also lead to changes on some routes. Trolleybuses will be used on existing routes to replace worn-out vehicles.
