ArmInfo. Armenia is ready to exempt aircraft pilots from military service. "The adoption of the project will ensure the return of Armenian pilots to their homeland, and will also solve the problems of demand for civil aviation crews in Armenian airlines," says the document on the unified portal of legal acts e-draft.am.
As stated in the explanation to the document, about 20-25 pilots of Armenian nationality, who studied abroad and qualified as civil pilots, live and work outside the territory of the Republic of Armenia. They ended up outside the Republic of Armenia for the purpose of training, since there are no corresponding higher educational institutions for pilots in the Republic of Armenia. Having qualified as civil pilots, they received job offers and are currently working for foreign airlines. "The profession of a qualified pilot is in constant demand all over the world and qualified pilots with appropriate education have virtually no problems with employment. The above-mentioned Armenian pilots (including aircraft commanders) operate mainly Airbus and Boeing aircraft," note the authors of the initiative represented by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia.
Meanwhile, there are currently six airlines operating in Armenia operating international flights, which operate the same type of aircraft and are forced to hire foreign pilots.
Based on the above, MTAI, in order to develop Armenian aviation and replenish other industries with highly qualified specialists, proposes to amend the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Armenia dated February 15, 2019 No. 89-N "On establishing the procedure for releasing a citizen from compulsory military service in exceptional cases." With the adoption of the project, the development of Armenian aviation and other industries will be promoted by highly qualified specialists, the draft decision says.
