ArmInfo. The Armenian government, under certain conditions, is ready to support citizens of the country to receive education at the best universities in the world. The project, initiated by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, was posted today on the unified portal of legal acts e-draft.am.
As noted in the explanation to the document, the state will financially encourage citizens of the Republic of Armenia who receive education at prestigious foreign universities (top 65-75 universities in the world according to http://www.shanghairanking.com) by providing compensation for tuition fees. In order to receive a scholarship, in addition to the condition of full-time study in the best educational institutions, there is another requirement: the presence of at least fifty percent of the tuition fee reimbursement from the current or future employer. In this case, the scholarship provided by the Republic of Armenia will be provided in the maximum amount of the remaining tuition fee after the compensation provided by the employer, but not more than 10 million RA drams for each academic year.
The employer and the student must have an agreement on financing the education and the obligation to work or continue to work for the employer after completing the education. The term of the employment contract must be at least 3 years after the expected completion of the education.
It is envisaged that if the citizen-recipient of the scholarship does not return to the Republic of Armenia after completing the education, or leaves the education unfinished, or transfers to another educational institution, the employer transfers in the amount of three times the total scholarship or co- financing provided by the state to the relevant treasury account of the state budget of the Republic of Armenia. A week earlier, during a meeting with students of Sisian Secondary School, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that no successful student should go unnoticed in Armenia. He noted that discussions are currently underway to give this issue an institutional character. Students can still apply to the RA Prime Minister's Office with a corresponding application, and if the average grade exceeds the established standard, then funding is opened for the student. Pashinyan emphasized that the Cabinet of Ministers also finances scholarships for students studying in prestigious foreign universities.
