ArmInfo.The Paralympic Weightlifting World Cup is taking place in Tbilisi on June 20-26. The Armenian national team showed brilliant results at the competition on June 20. All three athletes in the 49 kg weight category won medals.
According to the National Paralympic Committee of Armenia, Artur Babayan - in the age group of 15-17 years with a result of 105 kg, he for the first time broke the minimum norm of the European record and won silver and bronze medals (the athlete who won the gold medal was a representative of Asia). To date, not a single athlete competing in the age group of 15-17 years and up to 49 kg has managed to meet the minimum standard of the above record set by the International Paralympic Weightlifting Federation (WPPO). This means that each time at the European Championships the fact that the record was set by the representative of Armenia Arthur Babayan will be celebrated for the first time. Also, for the first time in the Paralympic history of Armenia, a record was set.
Rafael Hamazaspyan - in the age group of 15-17 years, won bronze and gold medals with results of 75 kg and 210 kg. It is noteworthy that this is Rafael's first international performance, at which he performed very confidently and demonstrated excellent technique.
Khoren Tsaturyan - in the 18-20 age group (he is not yet 18) he won two gold medals in the 105 kg weight category.
The personal trainer of Arthur Babayan is Aram Zurabyan, the personal trainer of Khoren Tsaturyan and Rafael Hamazaspyan is Christina Petrosyan.
On June 22 and 23, Greta Vardanyan, Harutyun Mkhitaryan and Gnel Safaryan will compete in the 61 kg, 65 kg and 88 kg weight categories. They will compete for an invitation to participate in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. The head of the delegation sent to Tbilisi is Gevorg Hovhannisyan.
