The diplomats discussed a number of topical issues of the bilateral relations, prospects for trade and economic cooperation and interaction in joint integration structures. A corresponding note verbale of the Belarusian side was handed over to the Armenian diplomat. The sides touched upon the humanitarian issues and emphasized the long-standing friendly ties between the people of two countries. On the eve of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus the weighty contribution of the Armenian soldiers to the liberation of our country from the Nazi invaders was noted.
On June 20, during his visit to Vilnius, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with the leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya. Tikhanovskaya herself noted on the X network that "it was a great honor for her to meet in Vilnius with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia." "I thanked Armenia for its firm position against the Lukashenko regime and expressed hope for continued close cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and our democratic forces," she wrote. Earlier, on June 13, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia allows the continuation of its membership in the CSTO, but only if Belarus leaves it or President Alexander Lukashenko makes an apology "acceptable to the Armenian people" in connection with his statements at the May meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the 2020 war in Nagorno-Karabakh. Nikol Pashinyan said that he will never visit Belarus while Alexander Lukashenko is president there. Moreover, Armenia recalled its ambassador for consultations from Minsk. In response, Belarus recalled its ambassador from Yerevan for consultations, while declaring that it was not going to spoil relations with the friendly Armenian people.
