ArmInfo.One of the largest research organizations in Germany, HELMHOLTZ, is interested in conducting joint scientific research with Armenia in the fields of energy, climate change and artificial intelligence (AI). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, referring to the results of the meeting between the head of the department, Zhanna Andreasyan, and the head of HELMHOLTZ, Otmar Whistler.
In the context of conducting research in the field of climate change, Zhanna Andreasyan touched upon the recent natural disaster that occurred in the Lori and Tavush regions of Armenia. In this regard, she noted that the Armenian education system faces the challenge of developing research capacity, data analysis and implementing more effective policies to reduce the negative consequences of possible disasters.
Speaking about cooperation in the energy sector, Andreasyan added the importance of scientific research in the field of alternative sources energy, in particular solar energy. During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed the possibility of HELMHOLTZ participating in the Academic project city. The German side proposed holding exchange programs for young researchers and scientists.
HELMHOLTZ includes more than 15,000 scientists and 7,000 doctoral students. The organization was formed in 1958 as a simple working association of a number of young institutes in order to study the then extremely popular atomic energy. Now the Association named after. Helmholtz consists of 18 independent research centers. Scientists at HELMHOLTZ focus on the highly complex systems that shape human life and the environment. The research topics are related to issues of preserving the environment for future generations or the development of new methods for treating diseases that were until now considered incurable.
