ArmInfo.Former presidential candidate of Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya commented on her meeting with head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Ararat Mirzoyan.
"Great honor to meet ArmenianFM Ararat Mirzoyan in Vilnius. I thanked Armenia for its firm stance against Lukashenka's regime & expressed hope for continued close cooperation between Armenia & our democratic forces. The people of Armenia & Belarus deserve a free, democratic & European future," Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya wrote on her Twitter microblog (X).
Relations between Armenia and Belarus are going through hard times. The visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to occupied Artsakh and the statements made there regarding the 2020 war have caused a negative reaction from the Armenian authorities. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that he will never visit Belarus while Lukashenko is president there. Moreover, Armenia recalled its ambassador from Minsk for consultations. In response, Belarus recalled its ambassador from Yerevan for consultations, while stating that it does not intend to spoil relations with the friendly Armenian people.
