ArmInfo. A rally of parents of servicemen killed in non-combat conditions took place near the Government. The latter demanded that government officials, in particular Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, investigate the cases related to the murder of their children and punish the perpetrators.
After the cabinet meeting, only High-Tech Industry Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan met with the parents. After listening to the latter, he promised that during his next report to the Prime Minister he would convey their demands and appeals. The Minister also stressed that if the parents consider it necessary, he is ready to talk to Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan. The head of the department emphasized that he sincerely shares their pain, but drew attention to the fact that he will not be able to directly influence the course of developments.
The soldiers' parents told Hayrapetyan that in 2019, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, a public control group was established to investigate criminal cases, which included 6 lawyers, employees of the Main Directorate of Military Investigations. The latter were instructed to study 5 criminal cases related to the murder of soldiers in non-combat conditions and give them action. We are talking about cases that were more than 10 years old. The current Prosecutor General of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan chairs this group, as the parents noted. Even then, after listening to the parents, she immediately stated that all cases were related to murders. The Prosecutor General promised that the cases would be reclassified and the articles changed.
After that, Vardapetyan was appointed to the post of Prosecutor General. According to the parents, she asked them for 2 months to resolve these issues, but still has not kept her promise. Two years have passed since then. And the relatives are only demanding justice - to punish the guilty, including those prosecutors who allowed these cases to be concealed. Both the Prosecutor General and the Prime Minister, who said that if anything happened, the parents could turn to them, are not in touch with the parents today. The latter complain that they cannot even mourn their grief, because they are still forced to seek and demand justice.
The mentioned cases related to soldiers: Valery Muradyan (2010), Tigran Ohanjanyan (2007), Arman Hakobyan (2000), Andranik Silakyan (2002), as well as the case in Mataghis (2005), when the criminal who killed two soldiers was never found.
