ArmInfo.Today, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it has put forward the absurd accusations against Armenia for replenishing its weapons. "Regarding the claim that the policy of mass armament is the sovereign right of Armenia, let us note that it should be known to everyone why these steps taken by Armenia are illegitimate and pose a threat to Azerbaijan," said spokesman for this country Foreign Ministry, Aykhan Hajizada.
According to him, "The creation of the image of Armenia as a peaceful country, which stopped as a result of the steps taken, is political manipulation. "It would be better if the Armenian side, which refers to the territorial integrity based on the borders of 1991 and the Almaty declaration, should explain why it has not followed these agreements for more than 30 years, why it refused to accept the borders reflected in the Soviet maps, and why it occupied the territories of Azerbaijan."
Apparently, Hajizada forgot that international law notes two more equivalent principles - the right of nations to self-determination and the non-use of force. And this was treacherously violated by Azerbaijan itself, which in advance dissolved the national autonomy fixed in the Soviet maps (NKAO), to which the spokesperson refers, and then carried out ethnic cleansing on the territory of this autonomy, which failed due to resistance back in the early 1990s.
Moreover, Hajizada expressed dissatisfaction with France's policy: " It is clear that countries like France, which supposedly support peace and are competing in supplying Armenia with lethal offensive weapons, contrary to Armenia's statements aimed at increasing its defense capabilities, serve to turn Armenia into a new source of tension and threats. Considering that this policy contributes to the next possible aggression of Armenia, it is important to refrain from these steps before it is too late", thereby threatening Armenia's sovereign right to replenish its arsenals. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry once again voiced the main condition for signing a peace agreement with Yerevan: "the cessation of Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan, which are enshrined in numerous legal and political documents of this country, in particular, in the Constitution of Armenia, which directly refers to the Declaration of Independence of Armenia, allegedly calling for the "unification of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh".
