ArmInfo.The crime related to the attack on the synagogue on Nar- Dos Street in Yerevan has been revealed, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reports.
According to the investigation, an alarm about the attack on the religious center was received on June 10 at 01:43. As a result of operational and investigative activities, it was established that the person who committed the illegal act was a 35-year-old resident of Artashat, who was detained. A criminal case was initiated on this fact under Part 1, Article 146 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The man confessed, and the necessary investigative actions were carried out with his participation. An inspection of the crime scene was conducted, during which it was found that the window of a Jewish religious organization was broken, and two stones that served as the weapon of the crime were found and removed from the ground.
The investigation established that the motive for the crime and the damage to property was national and ethnic hatred. On June 17, a petition was filed with the supervising prosecutor to initiate a public criminal prosecution against the 35-year-old man, which was granted and he was charged. A petition was filed with the court to arrest the man, which was rejected, and a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave was applied.
