ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities are resorting to various types of influence on supporters of the Tavush for the Motherland movement, trying to intimidate people. The leader of the movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, announced this at a press conference on June 19.
However, according to him, the authorities failed to achieve their goal; none of the representatives of the movement retreated or refused to continue the struggle. They emerge from this struggle even stronger and prepared. Galstanyan emphasized that during these days many representatives of art who joined the movement were injured. The culprit of all these and other actions, the leader of the movement noted, is the main liar sitting at the head of the government, as well as those in the leadership of the police who carry out the orders of this liar. During the entire period of the confrontation, only participants in the rallies were arrested and brought into custody; not a single police officer was punished.
The Archbishop noted that in addition to forceful methods of suppressing the popular movement, the authorities are also carrying out an active information campaign against the Tavush in the Name of the Motherland movement. The tribune of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia turned into the main mouthpiece of the dirty campaign launched against the movement. Particularly active in this issue is a deputy from the ruling Civil Contract faction, Artur Hovhannisyan, who, before his appearance in parliament, "was involved in a drug case." The archbishop intends to initiate legal proceedings against him for his latest statements.
"Our movement will continue its activities on the streets, attracting more and more people and improving the organizational process. New faces will appear, the movement will cover the whole country," the archbishop said, adding that the movement seeks to remove power through legal means: all legal methods for impeachment are being considered Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the removal of the current government.
