ArmInfo.Parliamentary hearings will be held in Armenia on the possibility of holding a referendum on joining the European Union in the country. The decision to hold the hearings was made on June 17 at a meeting of the National Assembly Commission on European Integration.
As noted by the head of the commission, Arman Egoyan, the hearings will be held on June 21 in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. It is expected that, in addition to representatives of the parliamentary corps and the expert community, they will be attended by the leaders of four political forces that recently approached the authorities with a proposal to hold a nationwide vote.
On June 11, party leaders Tigran Khzmalyan (European Party), Aram Sargsyan (<Republic>), Arman Babajanyan (<For the Name of the Republic>) and Levon Shirinyan (Christian Democratic Party) issued a statement in which they noted that < Based on geopolitical processes and internal Armenian necessity> they propose organizing a referendum in the next 3-4 months.
