ArmInfo. The West is not going to invite Armenia to the European Union, and Ukraine will not see this anytime soon. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.
"The centuries-old friendship between the Russian and Armenian peoples, cemented by allied relations within the framework of the CSTO and the EAEU, has long been a thorn in the side of Washington and its allies. Significant forces have been thrown into pulling the Transcaucasian republic into the Euro-Atlantic camp," Medvedev noted in his article published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta. According to him, it is no coincidence that one of the largest American embassies in the world is located in Yerevan. "We are seeing how emissaries of the US, EU and NATO are becoming more and more frequent guests in Armenia, handing out generous promises left and right. Mountains of gold, including membership in the European Union, are offered to this republic, of course, in exchange for complete loyalty. But do not delude yourself: such promises are just bait in a neo-colonialist mousetrap. No one intends to open the doors of the "club of the chosen ones" for the Armenian people - ask the "neo- Banderites" whether they managed to get membership in the EU. No, and they will not wait for it in the near future. And will they wait for it at all?", he asked. In this vein, Medvedev suggested looking at Georgia, where a law was recently approved that the US and EU did not like. "So what? Well, here's what - sanctions! The Resolution on strengthening relations between the EU and Armenia adopted by the European Parliament in March 2024 is in fact an ordinary piece of paper without obligations," the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council summed up.
