This was stated today at a briefing by spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, answering the question of the reporter of news.ru, whether Moscow hopes to restore relations with Armenia in the event of a change of power in Armenia, and what are the  expectations in this regard.

According to Zakharova, it is necessary to separate the topics that  are united in one question. Therefore, all developments that concern  the internal political life of a particular country, including  Armenia, are the internal affairs of a particular sovereign state,  the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted. As for  relations with the Armenian people, with Armenia, they are a priority  for Russia in all areas due to a number of reasons: historical,  economic, including geopolitical. These relations have always been  built on equality, on mutual consideration of interests, on  understanding the complexity of the situation in the region.

"I understand that there are many interested parties who want to  destroy the Armenian-Russian relations, and a lot has been done to  harm the bilateral relations. But it seems to me that Russia, with  its open heart, its broad soul, did everything to ensure that these  attempts were futile. And this is despite even very inadequate,  sometimes extremely offensive, statements addressed to us, despite  destructive measures aimed not only at undermining Russia, but at  undermining bilateral relations, which ricocheted on the people of  Armenia, on regional stability and security,"  Zakharova emphasized.  She recalled that Russia has  put a lot in this very regional  stability and security. "Pardon me for saying so, but Russia has  invested a lot, and to put it bluntly, it has sacrificed a lot of  lives and destinies of people. People, both living in Armenia and in  other countries and to a large extent citizens of Russia. These are  military personnel, employees of the relevant units, border guards,  who, sacrificing their lives, their health, well-being, protected the  region and the people of Armenia, first of all, from long-standing  conflicts, from natural disasters, from turmoil and troubles. And all  of this, of course, should be taken into account, Zakharova noted,  emphasizing that Russia always pulls these relations out of any  nosedive, into which crazy heads have repeatedly tried to lead them,  who, as she put it, "either did not think about anything, or thought  only about money or their own ambitions." 

Zakharova assured that Russia will always be friendly with Armenia  and will develop relations, because it is not about specific persons  who appear on the political horizons of different countries at  certain times. It is about the people. It is about two countries. As  I said, we have put so much soul and so much effort, so much warmth  into the development of our relations that no one will be able to  spoil them," the representative of the RA MFA emphasized.
