ArmInfo. Armenia has become the 43rd country to officially join NASA's Artemis Agreement.
Artemis is an international agreement between the governments of countries participating in the Artemis Program, governing the principles of cooperation and civil activities in the exploration and use of the Moon, Mars, comets and asteroids for peaceful purposes. They are based on the 1967 Outer Space Treaty.
The document was signed in Washington on June 12.
During the event, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson welcomed Armenia's decision to join Artemis, pointing out the country's great achievements in the field of science, space research, and astronomy.
In turn, Minister Hayrapetyan, noting the long-term cooperation with the United States, emphasized that this event is a big step in the context of expanding interaction between countries in the field of space research. "By joining this agreement, Armenia has become a member of a large space family of space exploration for peaceful purposes," he said.
