ArmInfo.Russia will continue working with Armenia to clarify Yerevan's position on the CSTO, and expects that the countries' relations will continue on the principle of partnership and alliance. Russian president spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated.
"As for Armenia, we will continue working with our Armenian friends, we will clarify their position, of course, we hope that in any case we will adhere to partnership and alliance relations," Peskov said when asked to comment on the statement by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan related to Armenia's withdrawal from the CSTO.
Peskov noted that Armenia is certainly interested in this as well. "Each country determines its priorities. Our priorities are well understood, we consistently defend them, and the participating countries (of the CSTO) also share these priorities in the field of security, collective security," said the spokesperson of the Russian president, RIA Novosti reports.
Today the Armenian prime minister announced from the rostrum of parliament the country's intention to withdraw from the CSTO. He did not give an exact date, noting that Yerevan will take that step when it deems it appropriate.
