ArmInfo.Orientalist Sergei Melkonyan exposes Pashinyan's lies regarding the surrender of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The expert noted that Nikol Pashinyan, who is still sitting in the chair of the Prime Minister of Armenia, said on June 12 from the rostrum of parliament that, according to the Lisbon Declaration of 1996, Nagorno- Karabakh was supposed to receive the highest autonomy within Azerbaijan.
"This means that his political godfather Levon Ter-Petrosyan already signed up to surrender Artsakh.
I will not go deep into history, showing the evolution of the negotiation process over 20 years under the "former" ones," the orientalist noted.
Instead, Melkonyan suggested recalling two important quotes in recent years made by different officials.
In particular, the statement by the EU's chief diplomat Josep Borrell that "For the first time, the leader of Armenia has unequivocally recognized the place of Nagorno-Karabakh under the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. This is unprecedented."
"That is, the European side records that Nikol's statement that Armenia recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan is unprecedented. This means that no one before Nikol agreed to such a thing. Other "intellectual" exercises are speculation and manipulation," noted orientalist.
The second quote that the expert suggested recalling was the words of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, from the fall of 2016, that "Behind closed doors, pressure is being exerted on Baku in order to force an agreement to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh."
"That is, the previous negotiation processes took place in the logic of pressure on Azerbaijan for the purpose of concessions, and not on Armenia, as is happening today. This is an indicator of the level of Armenia yesterday and today," the orientalist concluded.
