By participating in Conference on Restoration of Ukraine, Armenia  becomes party to Russian-Ukrainian conflict, moreover takes Kyiv`s  side - Politician

ArmInfo. Recently, attempts have been made in Armenia to present Ukraine as a "success story".  Leader of the Bright Armenia party Edmon Marukyan stated, touching upon Armenia's participation in the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine held in Berlin at the level of Deputy Foreign Minister.

According to him, it is noted that Georgia is participating at the  level of the Prime Minister, Azerbaijan - at the level of the Foreign  Ministry, why shouldn't Armenia participate at the level of Deputy  Foreign Minister.

"Georgia is participating, Azerbaijan is participating, let's take  part too. Why not, such an idea has the right to exist. But we have  recently seen serious attempts to present Ukraine  as a "success  story". This is being done in the public arena, various political  forces and so-called experts are trying to do so. And now we are also  participating in a conference on the restoration of Ukraine. But who  would ask: what does Armenia have to do with the conference on the  restoration of Ukraine? What do we have to do with the restoration of  Ukraine if we still accept that we are a strategic partner of the  Russian Federation in this region? All the documents are still in  force. The Prime Minister went to Moscow and asked that Russian  border guards continue to remain on the borders of Armenia-Turkiye  and Armenia-Iran. That is, we are going to a conference on the  restoration of Ukraine, which is an enemy of Russia. Let them  conclude a peace agreement and we will go, no problem. But by going  to this conference, when the conflict is still in full swing, we  become a party to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Moreover, we are  taking Ukraine's side," Marukyan said.

At the same time, the politician asked another question: how will  Armenia help Ukraine in the matter of restoration if it itself has  problems with restoration? "We have 150,000 refugees, and as a result  of the flood, we suffered $200 million in damage. Who will be engaged  in the restoration of our country? We built one bridge and the river  carried it away at night. This is your effective management,"  Marukyan continued.

"Okay, you are going to a conference, but why are you getting into  Bucha? Why is Armenia sticking its nose into Bucha? What do we have  to do with all this and why are we getting into these topics?",  Marukyan asked, drawing attention to the fact that the entire  Armenian economy is connected with Russia, and with these actions,  the authorities are depriving citizens of basic incomes, the  opportunity to earn a living.  According to him, the economic  situation in Armenia is not so great, and such actions and statements  jeopardize the economic future of the country. "It is difficult to  say that we are in favor of peace between Ukraine and Russia. There  is no need to go on adventures against a country with which we have  serious economic relations," he said, adding that such behavior by  Armenia is still tolerated, but this cannot continue for long.

The next stage of the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine will  be held in Berlin on June 11-12. The conference brings together heads  of government and state to mobilize international support for the  restoration and modernization of the war-torn country.
