ArmInfo.Armenia and Greece will expand military-technical cooperation. At the plenary session on June 12, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia ratified the Armenian-Greek intergovernmental agreement.
Presenting the document for ratification, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Arman Sargsyan noted that the agreement was signed on December 14, 2023 in Athens by the heads of the defense departments of the two states - Suren Papikyan and Nikos Dendias. In accordance with the document, the main areas of cooperation are determined, including promoting research into new technologies and military products in order to strengthen defense capabilities, as well as cooperation in the field of development and production within the framework of the national legislation of the parties.
The agreement also includes such important areas of cooperation as the transfer of technology and technical support in the production of weapons, ammunition and explosives, the exchange of information and experience in the field of ammunition production, the implementation of research in the field of military products and their production, the creation of joint ventures to their production. The document also provides provisions regarding the means of implementing military-technical cooperation, including the training of technical personnel, the provision of services for the repair and operation of military products produced in third countries.
In order to implement the agreement and promote cooperation, as Sargsyan noted, it is planned to create an Armenian-Greek commission.
