Debed river overflows, destroys village bridge 

ArmInfo.A temporary suspension pedestrian bridge installed after a flood in the village of Karkop  (Lori region) collapsed. As evidenced by video footage distributed online, the level of the Debed River rose again as a result of heavy rainfall, demolishing the suspension bridge.

It further became known that as a result of the incident, problems  with water supply also arose in the village.

In addition, yesterday there was a rockfall on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi  road, as a result of which the road was temporarily closed in two  directions.

Days earlier, the Ministry of Environment reported that due to the  penetration of the active Black Sea cyclone on June 8, periodic rains  and thunderstorms are expected in most regions of Armenia, and in  some areas the precipitation will be intense. The agency also warned  that the water level in the Debed, Aghstev and southern shores of  Lake Sevan is expected to rise. Let us recall that at the end of May,  heavy rains hit the north of Armenia, which led to the overflow of  the banks of the Debed and Aghstev rivers and flooding in the Lori  and Tavush regions. As a result, many roads and bridges collapsed,  houses were flooded, and many infrastructure problems arose. In  particular, we are talking about communications, power lines, gas  pipelines, systems related to drinking water and irrigation. Over 400  people were evacuated, the number of victims reached 4.
