ArmInfo. Armenia counts on Turkey to fulfill previously reached agreements. The RA Special Representative for negotiations with Ankara, Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of the RA Ruben Rubinyan told reporters about this on June 11.
According to him, back in July 2022, the parties agreed to open the border to citizens of third countries at the first stage. In addition, Armenia has carried out work to modernize the Margara checkpoint, the infrastructure of which is completely ready for operation, but Armenia has not yet seen steps from Turkey to implement the agreements reached.
Answering a question from journalists about the lack of meetings and dialogue between the parties, the Vice Speaker recalled that the foreign ministers of the two countries met relatively recently - at the end of February 2024 on the sidelines of the diplomatic forum in Antalya. There, Rubinyan himself met with his Turkish colleague Serdar Kilic. In Antalya, the parties agreed to hold a new round of negotiations, the dates and venue of which have not yet been determined.
