ArmInfo. The ruling parliamentary majority in Armenia will reject any attempt to declare a vote of no confidence in the RA government. Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan stated this on June 10 in a conversation with journalists.
According to him, the RA NA Council, whose meeting is to be held today, will reject the opposition's initiative to hold an extraordinary parliamentary meeting with one single issue: the resignation of the RA government. As Simonyan noted, there are no grounds for such a step. Answering a question about the opposition's accusations of the failure of the government's program and the depopulation of Artsakh, the speaker noted that Armenia provided more than significant assistance to Nagorno-Karabakh, and the reason for the mass outflow of the population should be sought in the policy of the then leadership of Artsakh. "It was they who surrendered Artsakh, and the Armenian government has made enormous efforts to solve the problems of internally displaced persons," emphasized the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, adding that the opposition's agenda has not changed. "They only change their faces, they do not include Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan in their movements, so as not to scare the people, but their agenda itself has not changed," Simonyan emphasized.
He added that there is no real demand for a change of power in Armenia, but if it arises, it will only be through elections. In this regard, the speaker pointed out the frivolity of the demands of the opposition, which, gathering 10-20 thousand people at rallies, demands the resignation of the authorities.
Earlier two opposition factions of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia - "Armenia" and "I Have the Honor" proposed to convene an extraordinary meeting of the parliament on June 11 at 18.30 to adopt a message demanding the resignation of the government. This proposal was signed by 33 deputies.
