ArmInfo. The Republic of Armenia has no territorial claims against any of its neighbors, including Azerbaijan. This is stated in the statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry in connection with the statements made on June 6 by the President of Azerbaijan.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry noted that the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and amendments to it are an internal matter of the Republic of Armenia.
"We consider official Baku's attempts to interfere in the internal Armenian discussions on this issue, which began in 2018, as gross interference in the internal affairs of our country.
At the same time, we believe that such speech torpedoes the peace process and casts doubt on the sincerity of the Azerbaijani leadership in achieving peace," the Armenian Foreign Ministry continued. Official Yerevan believes that the peace agreement, which is being negotiated between Armenia and Azerbaijan, clearly states that the parties recognize each other's territorial integrity and have no territorial claims against each other.
"The draft Peace Agreement also contains an agreed-upon provision according to which neither party can refer to its domestic legislation to violate its obligations under the Peace Agreement. The signing of the agreement and its ratification through internal procedures will finally enshrine these principles," the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry expressed confidence that the most clear and direct way to eliminate all concerns of the parties is the signing of the Agreement, which will open the chapter of long-term peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
" The Peace Agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has reached a sufficient level to be signed, and the Armenian side expresses its willingness to work constructively and intensively to complete and sign it within the next month," the RA MFA summarized.
On June 6, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev put forward another condition for Armenia. At the same time, Aliyev noted that signing a peace agreement with Armenia is impossible until amendments are made to the Constitution of the state. According to him, when Azerbaijan raises this issue, this does not mean that Baku is interfering in the internal affairs of Armenia.
