ArmInfo.Georgia is a kind of guarantor of stability in the South Caucasus. If provocations start here, they become active, then with a domino effect everything can spread throughout the Caucasus, and the consequences will be irreversible.
Georgian politician, diplomat, political scientist Levan Pirveli said on RTVI during the discussions "The European Union needs Georgia more than Georgia needs the European Union. Protests, the law on foreign agents, the EU and NATO," speaking about the situation around Armenia. Touching on the current processes, the Georgian diplomat noted that today it is the West that is destabilizing and arming Armenia. "And these actions of the West are quite understandable, since Armenia itself can become an actor in such provocative actions in the Caucasus if Georgia provides logistics. And they were still confident that Georgia would unquestioningly fulfill all the wishes of the West, including military and military-logistical ones," the Georgian politician noted. At the same time, Pirveli expressed confidence that Georgia's independent policy "interferes with the West's cards" in the region, including military ones, since it will be more difficult for it to undertake military provocations in the Caucasus.
To the remark that the Armenian authorities may look at all this differently, Pirveli drew attention to the fact that Armenia can look at all this however they want, but they must not forget that Yerevan depends on Georgia.
To the request to assess Armenia's criticism and claims regarding the CSTO, the Georgian politician drew attention to the fact that this military bloc could not be involved in the processes around Nagorno- Karabakh, since it did not have a mandate for this. "Note that Armenia itself did not recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh, and the CSTO operates only on the territory of the Organization's member states. And no one has touched Armenia yet. And how the CSTO will theoretically act if Azerbaijan attacks Armenian lands is another question. But what Nagorno-Karabakh can we talk about when Armenia itself recognized these territories as Azerbaijani," Pirveli asked. At the same time, he believes that if Armenia has so many claims to the CSTO, then why doesn't it leave the Organization. According to him, the Armenian policy on this issue is very strange, there are a ton of claims, and yet the country continues to remain in the CSTO. He also called Armenia's statement about freezing its membership in the CSTO absurd. "I can't imagine such a concept. Can you imagine if some country suddenly announced that it was freezing its membership in NATO? The same applies to the CSTO," the Georgian politician said.
Referring to the protests in Armenia, Pirveli noted that there is complete chaos in the country. "All the world's intelligence agencies are working in Armenia today: Russian participation and influence are visible, as well as French and American ones. All of them there, and they are destabilizing Armenia. And we, in Georgia, observing this, do not want to find ourselves in a similar situation. And I think that the law on foreign agents in Georgia will contribute to this, since all these intelligence agencies are represented through NGOs. This has long been no secret to anyone," the politician noted, adding that in Georgia they understand perfectly well that all this is the result of the West's actions. The politician believes that the West wants to destabilize the South Caucasus, while simultaneously creating a bridgehead against Iran. " Georgia understands all this perfectly well. They need the Caucasus in complete submission," he noted.
Pirveli once again emphasized that today Armenia is being destabilized by anyone and everyone: some so that it begins preparing for a future war with Azerbaijan, others so that this does not happen. Therefore, the analyst believes, it is difficult to draw a general picture today, but the processes are visible.
