ArmInfo. A 29-year-old man was arrested for offering citizens bribes for participation in rallies of the Tavush for the Motherland movement. This is stated in the message of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
The department noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic received information that on the social network Facebook there was a conversation between two men about the possibility of financial interest of a number of people to ensure their participation in opposition rallies. In particular, in the recording, the men talk about giving some movement participants money for participating in protests organized by the Tavush for the Motherland movement.
As a result of the operational search activities carried out, the identities of the persons whose conversation was heard in the recording were established. Based on this fact, on June 2, the RA Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 236 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. As part of the preliminary investigation, a number of necessary investigative actions were carried out, including searches, as a result of which objects and things of interest to the investigation were discovered, in particular, recorded names of persons and notebooks with notes on the amount of money issued.
Based on the facts received, the supervisory prosecutor submitted a petition to initiate public criminal prosecution against a 29-year-old man, who is accused of taking part in organizing the recruitment of a group of people for monetary compensation in 2024 for the purpose of their participation in rallies, acts of disobedience, blocking streets and holding processions. In particular, during May, in order to ensure a large number of people at the specified movement events, he paid about 5 thousand drams for the one-time participation of at least 4 people and, thereby, ensured their physical participation in the rallies.
The Committee's request was granted. It was decided to apply a preventive measure in the form of arrest against the 29-year-old man.
The criminal investigation continues. Measures are being taken to clarify the circumstances of the incident, sources of financing, as well as to identify the entire range of persons involved in the process.
