Two of seven flood-destroyed railways sections restore 

ArmInfo. Train traffic has been restored on two of the eight damaged sections of the railway  infrastructure from Sanahin station to Ayrum station. Traffic is still limited in speed and type of rolling stock, the South Caucasus Railway CJSC said in a statement.

Currently, the source notes, clearing of rubble from the destroyed  area on the Alaverdi-Haghpat section is underway by blasting and  dismantling of destroyed structures, large-scale excavation work is  underway to clear areas and build access roads for construction  equipment. On one of the destroyed sections of the stretch, a terrace  is built and an embankment is formed.

At the Akhtala station, work has been completed to restore a  230-meter-long power line, as well as 400- meter-long poles and  communication cables. The station's floor equipment was also  dismantled and washed to remove dirt. The removal of dirt from  external station equipment has been completed, and the dismantling of  damaged automation devices has been completed. At the same time,  materials and equipment are being supplied from abroad, contracts  have been concluded and stone is being supplied from various  quarries.

Preparatory work is underway at the Ayrum station and materials and  equipment are being imported to prepare it for receiving oil cargo.  It is planned that a temporary scheme for the delivery of goods to  Armenia will be organized on the basis of Ayrum station.

In total, 265 employees of the South Caucasus Railway company were  involved in the restoration work.  The total number of employees sent  from Russia is more than 30 people. Several more specialists are  expected from the Georgian Railways company.

At the same time, the company's shunting diesel locomotive continues  to deliver equipment and people to the settlements of Karkop,  Chochkan, Mets Ayrum and Pokr Ayrum, cut off from the mainland.

On May 25-26, a flood occurred in northern Armenia caused by heavy  precipitation, heavy rain and the Debed River overflowing its banks,  which led to significant destruction of infrastructure and the death  of four people. According to information provided by the republic's  Ministry of Internal Affairs on May 26, the disaster damaged roads,  bridges and railway lines. The main blow of the disaster fell on the  Lori region.  On the Vanadzor-Alaverdi highway section, about 50  meters of the road were destroyed, several houses and outbuildings at  the Ayrum railway station were flooded. As a result of the flood, the  bridge over the Debed River, connecting the Sanahin station with the  city of Alaverdi, was destroyed. Due to the flood, the M-6 highway  connecting Armenia with Georgia is closed. In addition, international  railway flights on the route Yerevan - Tbilisi - Yerevan were  canceled by the South Caucasus Railway company due to a landslide on  the Ayrum - Akhtala section.
