ArmInfo. Third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan called for not predicting what the outcome of the "For the Motherland" movement headed by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan will be.
In a conversation with journalists, the former president only stated that the struggle continues, and there is no tendency for it to die down. "We'll see how it ends, but one thing is clear: these actions are aimed at catching the signatories of the protocols on the country's borders by the hand. This movement is precisely aimed at preventing such a phenomenon, I don't see any other way," the third President of the Republic of Armenia noted.
Sargsyan, on behalf of the Republican Party he leads, once again expressed support for the movement launched by Bagrat Galstanyan. " If he has said that he will claim the position of prime minister, then we will support him in this matter," the third President of the Republic of Armenia emphasized. He also noted that the country's authorities are using disproportionate force against the backdrop of complete silence from the collective West, which contributes to the developments that everyone is witnessing. "Traditionally, our allies and countries that do not represent the West almost never interfere in the internal affairs of our country. They also make statements, but not so directly. The Council of Europe should also respond directly, since Armenia has obligations to this organization," the ex-president emphasized. He added that for him personally, the statements of Turkiye and Azerbaijan on the situation in Armenia do not mean anything, although both Ankara and Baku are also members of the Council of Europe.
