ArmInfo. The version that the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi crashed due to an explosion caused by sabotage has ruled out. As Rosbalt reports, this is stated in the report of the Supreme Committee to Investigate the Dimensions and Causes of the Disaster, published on the website of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
"[The version ] about an explosion as a result of sabotage in flight or a few seconds before colliding with the hillside is excluded," the document says.
It is noted that experts examined the wreckage and parts of the helicopter, and also assessed the distance between them.
The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces added that the main reason for the crash of the helicopter carrying Raisi has not yet been determined. The first report stated that the Iranian president's helicopter caught fire while taking off. The helicopter carrying Ebrahim Raisi crashed on May 19 in the north-west of the country, in the Verzegan region. In addition to Raisi, the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the governor of the province of East Azerbaijan and the imam of the city of Tabriz were on board. No one survived.
