ArmInfo. Fighting ignorance. This is how political scientist Stepan Danielyan commented on yesterday's statements by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Parliament.
The expert stated that from the rostrum of parliament, addressing the church, he stated "that they were anointed in Caesarea, returned to Armenia and became agents of influence."
In this vein, Danielyan stated that such statements can only be made by people completely far from history. In this vein, the political scientist decided to enlighten the current Prime Minister of Armenia and tell him why in those days Armenian bishops went to Caesarea for consecration.
In this vein, the expert noted that in those days Constantinople did not meet these criteria, but, being the capital, it received the status of metropolitan with great difficulty.
"The consecration of a bishop in any of these places was obligatory for the entire Christian world. So it was a mandatory condition for the Armenian bishops in Caesarea (some of them were not Armenians, but Assyrians). Grigor Lusavorich was also from Caesarea, at least his mother he had a Greek girlfriend, we won't discuss the father moment, there are questions.
Moreover, at that time not only Armenia, but in general all Christian powers were partially independent, all were subjects of the Roman (Byzantine) emperor, at one or another sovereign level and could not be agents of influence by definition, they were simply subjects, including King Pap," added Danielyan.
In conclusion, he touched upon the activities of King Pap and wondered what he had done. And he himself noted that King Pap wanted to fall under the influence of Persia, which was under the influence of Rome, and for this it was necessary to remove the church from the influence of Rome, especially since there was already a precedent for the Assyrian (or Persian) church.
On May 22, in parliament, Prime Minister accused the opposition of trying to undermine the country's legitimacy and provoke a war, and added that he would not allow this. He further accused the opposition of wanting to make an "outpost" out of Armenia. In this vein, Pashinyan decided to compare the current processes in the country with the history of Armenia during the time of King Pap. "After all, the Armenian people had such an experience - during the imperial rule they went to Caesarea, received blessings, returned to Armenia and became agents of influence. The issue of agents of influence has not been resolved from the period of King Pap to this day. But I am sure that he will be resolved in the next 2-3 months. It is no coincidence that I keep talking about King Pap. This conversation was interrupted by the murder of King Pap. But King Pap will not be killed again. I, as the Prime Minister of Armenia, will not be killed so that they will not be killed. If you don't wear it, no matter what cross you hang on your chest, King Pap will not be killed. Today's Armenia is the realization of King Pap's dream," Pashinyan concluded.
