ArmInfo.Chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan the draft demographic strategy of Armenia was discussed, the press service of the government reports.
As the Prime Minister noted, it is important what concept of life is based on the demography strategy and what concept of the Republic of Armenia is based on the demography strategy. "If our perception of the Republic of Armenia is such that it is conceptually an outpost, based on which we should strive for a greater or, as they say, historical Armenia, this is one thing from the concept of life. If the Republic of Armenia is a state whose task is to ensure and protect its sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and, on this basis, create conditions for ensuring the freedom, security, well-being and happiness of its citizens, then this is a completely different concept," added Nikol Pashinyan.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that when discussing the demographic strategy and the current demographic situation in Armenia, a number of obvious factors are not taken into account, in particular, how many people emigrated from the Republic of Armenia just to keep their child from a fighting hole. Nikol Pashinyan noted that no one has statistics on how many citizens of the Republic of Armenia were deprived of the opportunity to receive a proper education because of this. Meanwhile, according to the Prime Minister, these people had enormous potential; they could achieve great success in various fields. Summing up his speech, the Prime Minister stressed that this does not mean that the strategy should be revised, but it should be seen in that light.
Pashinyan first promoted the idea of confrontation between "real" and "historical" Armenia on April 10 in the country's parliament, declaring that "historical" and "real" Armenia are antagonists and create the most serious threats to each other. According to him, "historical" Armenia, willingly or unwillingly, echoes a number of countries that encroach on the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of real Armenia. In addition, the prime minister pointed out, historical Armenia not only guarantees eternal enmity with a number of countries, but also gives them a reason and grounds for an aggressive policy towards Armenia. It also forces the "real" Armenia to be dependent on the "senior partner" and deprived of real independence, he noted. "Our vision of historical Armenia will always lead us into the trap of genocide, in which we will need a savior and patron, without whom we cannot exist. The fear of genocide will keep us in the status of an outpost. And an outpost does not need territorial integrity, borders, or sovereignty. It only needs a patron," Pashinyan said then. A day later, he called for recording the strategic impossibility of returning to the idea of historical Armenia.
