ArmInfo. The leader of the "Tavush for the Motherland" movement, primate of the Tavush diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan is holding a meeting with representatives of the country's political forces on May 18.
In a conversation with journalists, the archbishop noted that he would like, first of all, to get to know everyone, present them with the situation, so that everyone, regardless of whether we are talking about large or small political forces, would become participants in the protest movement. He noted that the doors for meeting participants are open to everyone. Galstanyan did not rule out that during the meeting the issue of the future prime minister of the country will be discussed. "Everything is possible, political forces will present their opinions and proposals, their approaches to the unfolding movement. We invited them to open and honest discussions," the archbishop emphasized.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Christian Democratic Union party, former prime minister and ex-speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Khosrov Harutyunyan noted that today's meeting with the leader of the movement will be the second in the last few days. Before this, there was a meeting between the archbishop and former prime ministers of the country. "In essence, we are discussing the features of the current situation, the existing challenges and those steps that can, if not neutralize, then at least minimize the impact of these challenges. We are talking about the threats that have formed today both on our borders and in context of the territorial integrity of the state and its security," Harutyunyan said.
He added that the meeting mainly discussed these issues, as well as the fight strategy. "When talking about strategy, it is necessary to keep in mind that we are talking about achieving a political result, which, however, is unlikely to be achieved in the next two weeks. But if at this stage it is possible to achieve a breakthrough in suspending the catastrophic process of border delimitation with Azerbaijan, transferring the problem in the platform of internationally recognized principles, then this can already be considered a success, and I consider this scenario for the development of the situation to be realistic," the ex-prime minister noted, while expressing confidence in the possibility of consolidating political forces. In his opinion, at present, directly or indirectly assisting the country's authorities means grist to Azerbaijan's mill, which could lead to the inviolability of Armenia's borders.
Speaking about the possibility of the opposition nominating a single candidate for prime minister, Harutyunyan noted that the candidate must have the trust of the overwhelming majority of citizens. This, according to him, is the only option for consolidating society with the use of its best abilities and capabilities in political processes.
In turn, co-founder of the Aprelu Yerkir party Mesrop Arakelyan emphasized the importance of the moment for uniting the efforts of political forces. He noted that previously parties and movements acted separately, having objective and subjective differences. Leader of the movement, Bagrat Galstanyan, managed to convince these forces to put aside all differences, which can only be evaluated positively.
