ArmInfo. MP from the "I Have Honor" opposition faction Taguhi Tovmasyan visited the detained leader of the political movement "Kamk" ("Will") Vahagn Chakhalyan in the pre-trial detention center. She reports on her Facebook page.
"We are again witnessing the unprofessional style of work of the investigative authorities of Armenia. Yesterday, citizens were detained who were simply standing near the government building during the incident. I held a meeting with Vahagn Chakhalyan and his teammates at the place of detention. The coordinator and leader of the initiative, Vahagn Chakhalyan, said , that "hanging on foam plastic will not save you from drowning." The fight continues, and Nikol Pashinyan will have to leave, and the sooner this happens, the better. In addition, on May 20 at 12:00 we will hold a rally near the building of the Service for the Execution of Judicial Acts demanding an amnesty for all judicial acts," the parliamentarian noted.
Referring to Chakhalyan's statement, she noted that the leader of the "Tavush for the Motherland" movement, primate of the Tavush diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan will not be alone, the whole Armenian nation is on his side, and the struggle will continue. "He stated that the charge of hooliganism against him was unfounded. The arrested citizens Minas Novshadyan, Taron Davtyan (who, by the way, was a volunteer in two wars), Mikael Hovhannisyan and Sergey Amirkhanyan also assured that their arrest was illegal, since all the videos show that they did not take any illegal actions, there was no violence, no profanity.
"That is, the police arrest active citizens, after which the Investigative Committee puts forward a demand for their detention. And who should be held responsible for the illegal deprivation of freedom of people? These important questions remain unanswered. I hope that representatives of the group will be released in the near future, including Vahagn Chakhalyan, if there is no political directive," Tovmasyan emphasized. Earlier, on May 16 Chakhalyan and 4 other participants in the protest near the government building were detained on suspicion of group hooliganism. According to investigators, they got into an argument and then a fight with an opponent of the protest. The police quickly intervened, separated the participants and took all five of them to the station. A criminal case has been initiated over the incident.
