As part of the full settlement of relations between Armenia and Turkiye, among other issues, the ministers attached importance to cultural cooperation. The interlocutor exchanged views on the restoration of the historical Ani Bridge.
In February last year, during a joint press conference with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that Yerevan and Ankara agreed to jointly repair the Ani Bridge, as well as take care of the corresponding infrastructure in anticipation of the full opening of the border. The Ani Bridge was built in the 10th-11th centuries, across the Akhuryan River, now dividing the border between Armenia and Turkey, to the medieval capital of the Armenian kingdom of Ani (the kingdom of the Bagratids).
