ArmInfo. Yerevan notes the importance of the full implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between Armenia and the European Union. This was stated to the Vice-President of the European Commission, EU Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis during his meeting with Armenian Vice-Premiers Mher Grigoryan and Tigran Khachatryan. The head of the EU delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, was also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the progress in the implementation of programs developed within the framework of the European Economic and Investment Plan was mentioned. In this context, the Armenian side emphasized the need for the participation of European financial structures in the effective organization and implementation of joint programs.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the importance of Armenia's participation in large regional infrastructure projects. The Armenian side presented the "Crossroads of the World" initiative and its main components, developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia with the aim of establishing lasting peace and stability in the region.
The need to diversify the Armenian economy and develop high-quality infrastructure in the country was also emphasized at the meeting. The interlocutors also discussed the prospects for RA-EU cooperation in this direction.
On April 5 in Brussels, at a joint briefing with RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the EU's readiness to provide Armenia with 270 million euros in grant funds for economic development, in particular support, within 4 years. small and medium-sized businesses, as well as economic diversification and infrastructure development. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recalled Washington's plans to provide Armenia with more than $65 million in assistance from budget funds for the 2023 fiscal year.
