ArmInfo. The "Five Human Rights Defenders" initiative reports on illegal actions by the police against citizens detained during protests in Yerevan.
"We are receiving reports that detained citizens at various police stations are being forced to reveal passwords to their smartphones in order to illegally gain access to confidential data. Therefore, we urge you to put a password on your smartphones; we inform you that the detainee is not obliged to tell the police either the password or the phone number. We remind you that our hotline number is 095088787," the initiative said in a statement.
Since April 19, protests have been taking place in the country against the unilateral concessions of the Armenian authorities to Azerbaijan. The protests were led by primate of the Tavush diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan. The Armenian authorities have launched a large-scale campaign of denigration and discredit against him, but so far in vain.
