ArmInfo. External forces are trying to stage a coup in Georgia. This was stated by Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party on the Rustavi 2 TV channel.
"Of course, there is an attempt from outside to stage a coup, a revolution in the country. Even the foreigners who came to the rally are proof of this," he said, while criticizing the actions of diplomats and calling them an attempt to polarize society and a manifestation of hostility towards Georgia.
"Can you imagine that our foreign minister would, give a speech at the opposition rally let's say, in Yerevan? What kind of attitude is this?' - Kaladze asked, the media reports.
In turn, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili noted that the governments of some of Georgia's partners "went too far in their rhetoric," adding that "anyone who disagrees with their rhetoric automatically becomes an enemy."
"Foreign dignitaries' joining of these protests, in blatant disregard of Georgia's sovereignty and diplomatic practice, in the name of 'democracy and human rights', is hypocrisy at best, and subversion at worst.," the speaker of the Georgian parliament wrote on Twitter.
The foreign ministers of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Iceland arrived in Georgia on May 15.
