ArmInfo. Armenia and Azerbaijan need tools to learn to live peacefully. On May 15, speaking at the Annual Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said.
According to him, it is impossible to live peacefully without studying, because some countries in the region, for example, Armenia and Azerbaijan, do not have the experience and knowledge of peaceful coexistence. "We have been in conflict since the first days of independence, and in addition to political negotiations and the principles of peace, there is an important prerequisite: learning to live peacefully, and this is an extremely difficult process, because, I repeat, neither we nor Azerbaijan know what it is.
And what is not known brings about uncertainties, concerns, tensions, which are understandably formulated and perceived based on historical experience, and historical experience says that this is not possible. This is where the need to learn arises, because the historical experience of mankind should have prompted and convinced mankind that it is impossible to fly into space. And this really was impossible until humanity began to learn how to fly into space, and now you won't surprise anyone with a flight into space. And this happened after humanity learned to form tools that make possible what previously seemed impossible. During this training, people were burned at the stake, but the globe did not stop rotating and the learning process did not stop," Pashinyan said.
He noted that in the case of Armenia and Azerbaijan, tools are also needed to learn to live peacefully. One of these tools is the "Crossroads of Peace" project proposed by the RA government. "This project concerns not only Armenia and Azerbaijan. One of the important points of this project is that Armenia and Azerbaijan open to each other roads and railways, pipelines, electricity transmission lines, the possibility of laying cables on the basis of respect for each other's territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, on the principles of equality and reciprocity. These principles for opening regional communication channels were agreed on July 15, 2023 in Brussels at a meeting with the participation of the President of Azerbaijan, the President of the European Council Charles Michel and me published by the latter. And on October 6, 2022 in Prague, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to recognize each other's territorial integrity on the basis Alma- Ata Declaration of 1991. This declaration was signed by the 12 republics of the former Soviet Union to formalize the recognition of the administrative boundaries of the Soviet republics as state borders. On October 6, 2022, in Prague, through the mediation of French President Emmanuel Macron and European Council President Charles Michel, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed that the Alma-Ata Declaration should become the basis for demarcation between the two countries.
The process of delimitation and demarcation of borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan began these days and should become one of the tools that will teach Armenia and Azerbaijan to live peacefully.
