ArmInfo. The "Tavush for the Motherland" movement will soon decide on its next steps, the movement leader of the Tavush diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, told reporters on May 10.
According to him, a little later there will be a meeting with citizens, during which the movement's actions for today will be determined. The Archbishop pointed out that lies have long become an ideological weapon of the current authorities, which is the reason for the current situation in the country. As an example of this lie, the leader of the movement pointed to statements that the figure of the second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, is allegedly behind the movement. "Their lies and hypocrisy know no bounds, look at the number of law enforcement officers, it's as if barbarians have gathered here, they are deceiving these guys in police uniforms, there is no longer a case when they would tell the truth. Yesterday information was received that these rulers went to Sevan, stay away from the protest movement, draw your own conclusions," clergyman said.
He added that the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is already a demand of the popular movement. Galstanyan emphasized that completely different actions were initially planned, but the expression of the people's will forced them to change the steps. Thus, it was planned to put forward a demand to stop the process of delimitation and demarcation of borders in the Tavush region, but the very course of the rally that took place the day before and the statements made at it forced this demand to be changed to the resignation of the current government.
"Our movement has already reached such a critical point, from which it is simply impossible to retreat. They (the rulers - ed.) without any guarantees and non-resumption of hostilities, control mechanisms from the international community, turned the issue only into the surrender of territories, and I am not sure that people will agree to continue living in these settlements," the archbishop emphasized, adding that at this stage we should be talking about preventing a catastrophe, all responsibility for which lies entirely with the current government of the Republic of Armenia.
"These people must leave, it is necessary to free the country from the propaganda of lies and falsifications. Now it is necessary, together with political figures and representatives of the public, to plan further steps, including through consultations with the opposition factions of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. The main thing is to ensure the legality of our actions in order to bring the matter will reach its logical conclusion. At the same time, there will be a popular demand for a new candidate for prime minister, whose name will be announced. The names, of course, are being discussed, but it is very important to achieve popular agreement on a single candidate for prime minister," the archbishop emphasized. , adding that the movement will return to this issue at the second stage of the struggle.
