ArmInfo.According to a poll conducted by the MPG company, the overwhelming majority of respondents in Armenia believe that the Armenian genocide of 1915-1923 is a tragedy, the memory of which should be enshrined in the Constitution of the country. 84.2% of respondents in Armenia were for including April 24 in Armenia's Constitution.
Another 7.4% believe that it is a historical date that should be honored, but not enshrined in legislation. Another 5.6% of respondents called this a sore that prevents Armenia from establishing relations with its neighbors, 0.3% gave a different answer, 2.5% found it difficult to answer.
When asked to express their attitude to the statement of the deputy from the "Civil Contract" faction Andranik Kocharyan about the need to compile a name list of victims of the Armenian Genocide, 53.9% of respondents expressed the belief that this is a Turkish program, the purpose of which is to create a commission and cast doubt on the fact of genocide.
18.7% considered this a fair initiative aimed at identifying the identities of the dead, 3.1% gave a different answer, another 24.3% found it difficult to answer.
At the same time, 69.4% of respondents in Yerevan and 44.5% in the regions (in total 54%) stated that on April 24 they visited/will visit the memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, 29% in Yerevan and 52.9% in the regions (in total 43.7%) - did not visit/ will not visit the memorial, another 2.3% found it difficult to answer.
The survey was conducted through telephone calls to residents of the Republic of Armenia in the period from April 22 to April 25 of this year, the sample size was 1100, the sampling error was +/- 3%.
