ArmInfo. The Armenian police do not allow anyone into the village of Kirants, Tavush region. Against this background, there was a conscientious altercation between law enforcement officers and the primate of the Tavush diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.
The clergyman called the actions of the Armenian police illegal. "You have no right to interfere with the activities of journalists or my activities. You do not have such powers. What you and your "red berets" and "black berets" staged here is a show. Your actions are criminal," Galstanyan noted.
The deputy police chief accused the church minister of carrying out "unrighteous activities," to which Galstanyan noted that he preaches the truth and their struggle in the name of truth and Armenia. "The new system, each village has its own citizens, and others are not allowed there," Galstanyan said with indignation.
As already reported, early in the morning the Armenian authorities sent numerous police forces, including special forces, to the village of Kirants and, using brute force, brought in the residents who blocked the road, including minors. It is reported that law enforcement officers used force against the schoolchildren. Citizens were detained so that they would not interfere with mine clearance activities.
It is noteworthy that, despite the fact that the Ombudsman's office stated that the a rapid response team was sent to Ijevan, where the detainees were taken, Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan herself refused to comment in any way on what was happening in Kirants.
