Armenia`s premier on basis for Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation 

ArmInfo.Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan explained on what basis the process of delimitation  of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is being carried out, and also commented on the opposition's statement that the Cadastre Committee and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia do not have  relevant documents.

"The Cadastre Committee informed him that the confidentiality regime  of these documents is such that they cannot be disclosed, but they  invited the leader of the faction to familiarize themselves with the  documents in the Cadastre Committee. Later, when these delimitation  processes intensified, if I'm not mistaken, it was a request in 2022,  the Ministry of Defense, in order to fulfill its functions, requested  these documents from the Cadastre Committee, and the Cadastre  Committee provided them to the Ministry of Defense, I think, with a  higher degree of confidentiality, and when then they (the opposition  - ed.) appealed to the Cadastre Committee for the second time, the  Cadastre Committee simply said that we do not have these documents on  hand.

"All these documents are there, I remember that they listed the  documents there, naturally, all the documents are there, they are at  the disposal of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, and they  are working with them, and not a single department, different  departments are working, these are confidential documents of a  certain scale and there are certain ways of dealing with them, and I  assume that misunderstandings may depend on these regimes," he said.

According to him, the government's task in the delimitation process  was to introduce a formula that would provide legitimate grounds for  the restoration of not only a separate section of the border, but  also the entire Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

Touching upon the opposition's accusation that border delimitation is  carried out in parts and not in batches, the Prime Minister pointed  out that the process of formation, reproduction or delimitation of  the border is always a long process. "Today we are forming a package  for the reproduction of the border, based on the Alma-Ata  Declaration," he noted, adding that in the statement of the  Delimitation Commission we agreed on several important things, and  the key is that the Alma-Ata Declaration was accepted by both parties  as the basic principle of the delimitation process.

He recalled that the delimitation process between Armenia and Georgia  has been going on for about 20 years. In the case of Azerbaijan, the  delimitation process must be carried out as quickly as possible.  "Why?  Since delimitation has not been carried out, it is clear that  this may become a certain reason for conflict.  Therefore, we start  with places with the greatest potential for conflict to keep the  situation as manageable as possible," he noted.
