Police forces block roads leading to village of Kirants, bordering  Azerbaijan

ArmInfo. Since the early morning of May 2, RA Police forces have blocked all roads leading to the  village of Kirants, bordering Azerbaijan.

As local residents note, the road leading to the village from the  village of Berkaberd is blocked. As a result, even ambulances cannot  reach Kirants. It became known that the health condition of the  famous 92-year- old grandmother Lena, who joined the protests against  the transfer of part of the village to Azerbaijan, has sharply  deteriorated.

The situation in Kirants continues to remain extremely tense; the  nerves of local residents have reached their peak, who believe that  the law enforcement agencies of Armenia, through their actions, are  actually opening the doors to the country to the enemy. More than 20  men from the village, whose relatives and friends died during the  Artsakh war, were brought to prison.

The day before, in an interview with the Public Television of  Armenia, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan  noted that in the coming days the process of delimiting the border in  non- problematic areas of the village of Kirants will begin.

The Prime Minister noted that there are 11 points in the village that  are subject to delimitation. Pashinyan especially noted that, in  general, the village residents do not dispute the already agreed  border; they have objections to 3-4 points. "We will begin  delimitation in that part that is not disputed by the village  residents, but we will look for solutions to the remaining points. We  must do everything to protect the rights of the villagers," Pashinyan  said.

On April 19, the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the  results of the eighth meeting of state commissions, announced that  Yerevan and Baku agreed to begin delimitation from the Tavush region  and by July 1 to complete the approval of the draft regulations on  the joint activities of delimitation commissions. Since the evening  of the same day, residents of the border villages of Tavush,  dissatisfied with these agreements, have been holding protests.
